Artificial Grass Maintenance
While artificial grass may seem like a permanent solution to a patchy and muddy lawn, however, don’t be fooled. Artificial grass is low maintenance, not maintenance free! It still needs to be cleaned every 2-3 months depending on how frequently the lawn is used and how many pets you have. We recommend a professional maintenance service to be taken every 6 months. Gardens, kennels or any other outdoor area used by pets can become a breeding ground for bacteria build up, produced from pet waste, which is dangerous both humans and pets who use the lawn. As well as harmful bacteria, pet waste produces ammonia gasses which in turn creates a strong, unpleasant odour that comes from urine and faeces. This becomes truly unbearable in the summer months, when you use your garden the most, as the smell is amplified by the hot weather.
How do I clean my artificial grass?
Here at K9 Turf, we recommend you use an enzyme cleaner, such as our specialist K9 Turf Enzyme Cleaner. Always use the cleaner your manufacturer recommends.
As well as masking unpleasant odours, K9 Turf Enzyme Cleaner penetrates the turfs surface, killing harmful bacteria. It penetrates through the turf to the sub-base, following the trail from pet waste to eliminate every particle. The product acts as an organic waste degrader, controlling ammonia which can be harmful to pets and children. Our cleaner is nontoxic meaning it is environmentally friendly and 100% safe for all pets to use. Not only does the cleaner eliminate nasty smells and kill harmful bacteria, it also uses a bleaching action (without the bleach) brightening the turf, leaving it sparkling clean with a fresh scent. This inherent biological action cleans the artificial grass in between the required cleaning maintenance period which is approximately every 3-6 months.
How to use
- Wet the artificial grass with water from a hose, or heavy rain.
- Apply the cleaner and leave for 5 minutes to allow the enzymes to activate.
- Rinse thoroughly with water.
- The enzymes separate three urine components from the grass which can then be washed away with a good rinse.
