K9’s specialist designed Pro Flow Urethane Backing has been manufactured in the USA by an industry leading company using the most advanced technology. Phase two of the artificial grass installation process is all about the K9 Turf itself and its advanced Pro Flow Technology. K9 Turf has a polyurethane backing which is the best choice of material when it comes to pet friendly artificial grass. This is because polyurethane does not hold dog urine like a latex backed product would. Latex backed grasses do not have enough drainage holes to successfully dispose of pet urine. Latex is also prone to shrinking over time so if your garden needed a join in it polyurethane would definitely be the best choice.   K9 Turf is manufactured and injected with thousands of air bubbles. This is the manufacturing process that made K9 Turf the most innovative pet friendly artificial grass on the market today. The Pro Flow Technology system consists of 2x dense gauge woven layers, a 5 pick layer and is coated with a urethane compound. These layers allow advanced drainage, restrict and prevent weed growth and give K9 Turf its outstanding longevity and hard-wearing ability. The first layer is made using a Pro Flow non-perforated backing which speeds up the flow of moisture, ensuring it is not trapped in the backing which is what you find in latex backed grasses. The second layer which is the 5-pick layer, leaves space for moisture to flow freely through avoiding that build up of a strong odour of ammonia caused by pet urine. This is followed by two layers of Heavy Gauge Woven material, which is what makes the artificial grass so heavy duty and hard-wearing, making it able to withstand high traffic from pets and children for many years of usage. K9 Turf has a mono-filament yarn making the finished product extremely resistant to the shedding of moisture. This makes for a well-drained lawn which drys quickly and one that is free of any nasty odours. The oval shape creates a spring-back effect meaning your grass will not go flat like flat normal yarn grasses do. This yarn is low sheen and is intertwined with brown thatch to create a natural finish leaving your artificial lawn looking as authentic as possible all year round. We always reinforce the fact that latex backed grass holds moisture as this leads to bacteria that can be harmful to pets and children who use the lawn. Only a year or two after having a latex backed artificial grass lawn laid you will begin to notice unpleasant smells produced from the ammonia in your pet’s waste. When ammonia develops it can only be reduced by approximately 30% when cleaned using even high quality artificial grass cleaner.
