K9 Installation
If you’re thinking of having an artificial grass installation done, view our install video above which explains the whole job from start to finish. In the video John, Managing Director of K9 Turf, talks you through the execution of a K9 Turf artificial grass installation. This video covers our advanced 4 Phase Installation system which you can read more about here.
We begin with the removal of any previous turf to create a level plain as this prepares the area for the K9 Turf to be installed.
In the next step a 20mm crush and run stone base is spread evenly and consolidated so we can place granite on top of this.
This is a 6mm dust to stone granite which is the best material you can use for the base as it compacts securely.
We can now use steel core retaining edging which again is the best material for edging unlike timber edging as wood can rot when drenched in pet urine. This steel edging gives the artificial lawn a perfectly neat finish and it can also be used to designate spaces in the lawn for flowerbeds or plants.
Towards the end of the installation, our team now roll out the K9 Turf and begin to seam any joins together piece by piece making it appear seamless and as natural as possible The seams are cut on both sides going three threads back which allows enough space for the blades of grass to create this natural look. The perfect join is created with artificial grass glue and adhesive tape. The grass can now be pinned in multiple places to strengthen the joins and prevent the artificial lawn from parting. Now the edges of the grass are trimmed to the shape of your garden and the edges are firmly bolstered down into place. We pin all of the edges of the artificial grass using six inch galvanized nails to ensure as secure finish as possible.
Lastly, Zeolite Infill is mechanically brushed across the entire surface of the artificial lawn evenly allowing it to fall into the bed of the yarn. This specialist infill is used to crystallise pet urine when a dog uses the lawn as a toilet as the infill frees the lawn of any ammonia and harmful bacteria avoiding any unpleasant odours. The artificial grass is then hosed down thoroughly to disperse the Zeolite Infill into the bed of the lawn.
